Lake Namekagon is located east of Cable and is the largest inland lake in Bayfield County. It is a popular lake for all sorts of recreation including: fishing, skiing, sailing and swimming. It is considered a trophy musky lake and offers excellent fishing opportunities for walleye, crappie and more.
Numerous islands, peninsulas and natural areas make it strikingly beautiful and home to abundant wildlife. Garden Lake to east and Jackson Lake to the northwest are commonly considered part of Namekagon. Access from Garden is under the bridge on Hwy D and access from Jackson is via a fully navigable channel through natural wetland area. Lake Namekagon is the headwaters to the Namekagon River which flows into the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers.
Many popular resorts and restaurants are accessible by boat. Fish fry is even better when enjoyed by the water.
