Cable is the southernmost town in Bayfield County. It is a community of 836 permanent residents and serves as the commerce center for the surrounding area. Activities here generally revolve around the outdoors with ample hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, biking and hiking opportunities.
Resources include the Post Office, bank, grocery store, hardware store, clinic, lumber yard, laundromat, coffee shops & cafes, bookstore, pizza place, gift shops, clothing store, public library and museums.
Cable plays host to the start of the famous American Birkebeiner and Korteloppet cross country ski races and the finish of the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival mountain bike race.
